At 8:00 this morning, a Brandt's cormorant was just offshore near the children's playground at Berkeley Aquatic Park, literally at my feet.

A male hooded merganser was near the eastern shoreline south of the viewing platform, and a raft of red-breasted mergansers was heading north along the western shoreline.

At 9:40, I ran into Denise Wight looking for the Harris's sparrow at Pt. Isabel. Shortly, Roberta Tanaka came along on the same quest. As we patrolled the pathway across the street from the post office sign, we encountered Glen Tepke and a woman whose name I didn't get. They had the Harris's sparrow in sight. It was flying between a tree on the west side of the street to the fence on the east side of the street and into the brush on the slope that leads into the marsh (where we saw five whimbrel).
The bird didn't seem particularly disturbed at being watched and spent long moments out in the open, scratching around on the ground or perched on a snag or the fence.
