Yesterday, October 1, at just after 1 pm, Mary Ann Allen, Sonny
Mencher, Lisa Myers, and myself found a Black-and-white Warbler at the
Coyote Hills picnic area. It was west beyond the Butterfly (Nectar)
Garden about halfway up the slope, in an oak on the left side of the
trail. There were also 3 Black-throated Gray Warblers (two juveniles
with white throats, and one adult with a black throat), a Red-
    breasted Sapsucker, a Hutton's Vireo, and a Pacific-slope Flycatcher
in the same group of oaks. On the ground under the trees we saw a
    Swainson's Thrush.

Pictures of the Black-and-white Warbler, 2 of the Black-throated Gray
Warblers, and the Red-breasted Sapsucker can be found here:

Earlier, at the end of Winton Ave., we staked out the Virginia's
Warbler between 9:30 and 11:30, but did not find it or the Clay-
colored or Brewer's Sparrow. The usual migrants were seen, however,
and some folks saw a White-throated Sparrow.
