On Saturday morning there was a bald eagle in the dead snag about half a mile west of the dam on the Bass Cove Trail. Several times in the past I have seen osprey in this particular tree. This is the first time I have seen a bald eagle there.

Today, there was a California Thrasher weaving in and out of the reeds next to the mud in Honker Bay. The water in Honker Bay is currently so shallow that the bay is populated by wading birds, with a few coots and ducks that still seem to find it deep enough to swim in.

Strange place to find a thrasher.
