    Hi all:

I spent a fair amount of the day in eastern Alameda County.
A flock of 58 Tree Swallows was hawking (swallowing!) insects at Bethany Res.
A juvenile Ferrugionous Hawk was somewhat staking out the territory south of Kelso and west of Mt. House. Seen four times in the area in distinctly different parts of that quadrant, the poor youngster was constantly hounded by blackbirds.
One Burrowing Owl in the field just south of Kelso adjacent to Mt. House on the west side. My only Burrowing Owl of the day despite transecting at least half a dozen areas where I've seen them before.
At the southern terminus of Midway Rd., an adult Ferruginous Hawk cooperated while I took a few thousand digiscopes hoping one would come out well. While posing, the beautiful raptor also called repeatedly, and I think it's the first time I've ever heard one call.
North of Livermore I had a juvenile Prairie Falcon on Dagnino, just north of May School Rd.
A few digi-scoped photos from today can be seen at:

    Good birding,
