A drake Wood Duck in full alternate plumage was alongside the pond at Union City Civic Center on Alvarado Niles at noon today. I think this may be the male that was first seen 3 winters ago and seems to have made this his winter home since. He let me stop w/in 10 feet of him without flinching. Seems unfortunate to have such a beautiful, normally wild duck grow accustomed to the human feeding that goes on regularly there.
