Today at lunch time, I drove along the frontage road to the fishing pier at the base of the Dumbarton Bridge in Fremont. There are several hundred RED-NECKED PHALAROPES and several hundred CALIFORNIA GULLS feeding on the freshly hatched brine flys in the salt ponds. There was also a single EARED GREBE in full breeding plumage in the same pond. There were about 150 BARN SWALLOWS foraging and resting on the power lines in the area.

The single BURROWING OWL continues at the main entry of Ohlone College along Cherry Street in Newark. It has been here almost daily for the past month.
