    Hi all:

A little flurry of activity was happening in the
middle of the restoration area in East Shore State
    Park this a.m., with Wilson's Warblers, Orange-crowned
typical and Orange-crowned Taiga type warblers, a
Willow Flycatcher, and 2 Yellow Warblers. It may be
that migration is picking up a little and it may be
that this fennel and willow patch is maturing and
attracting a few more birds. Accessed via the NW
corner of University Ave and W. Frontage Rd., one can
park along the edge of the road adjacent to the path.
Birds today were seen halfway down the NW/SE meander
    that heads towards the Marina.

Two more Yellow Warblers were seen in the trees lining
the NE corner of His Lordships parking lot just south
    of the Berkeley Pier.

At Winton Ave, the Barn Owl was resting quietly in the
middle Euc going into the staging area. High-tide
shorebirding at Frank's Dump was captivating with
100's of just about every shorebird you'd want to
see...except the ones I was looking for. But it is
spectacular, and continues to build. My annual pitch
to go and see some Red Knots is now in effect: Go see
some Red Knots. Radio Rd. in San Mateo gets a few.
Santa Clara Co. gets a few. We get 100's. Frank's
dump is an important layover spot for Red Knots. Go
see this amazing migrating shorebird. I miss Dennis
Braddy. I remember he posted to Sightings once
regarding Frank's Dump and taking a chair and seeing a
dozen or so shorebird species and another 15 or so
other species and never having to move. He had the
right idea. Our loss is Arkansas' gain.

A digi-scoped photo of the owl, taken last Sunday, can
    be seen at:

    Good birding,
