At about 3 PM this today 2 Baird's Sandpipers were foraging near the
northernmost jetty at Middle Harbor Regional Shoreline Park in Oakland. They
were eventually joined by a Western Sandpiper, providing an excellent
comparison. By the way, the Long-billed Curlew with colored bands (black and
orange on the right leg, white on the left leg) was banded in Ruby Valley,
NV and has returned to Oakland each year since 2005. I first noticed this
banded bird on July 27. Information on this research project can be found
    at: http://www.unr.nevada.edu/~chartman/sat.html
