    Hi all:

I road out the No Name Trail this morning at Coy.
Hills Reg. Park. On the way, a Cooper's Hawk harassed
a Barn Owl at the trees north of the entry booth.

A Spotted Sandpiper led me along the edge of N4A, the
first summer dispersant of this species I've seen.
At the west end of the trail and the SW corner of N3A,
a feeding frenzy of Brown and Am. White Pelicans,
Snowy and Great Egrets, Double-crested Cormorants and
Terns was taking place. I counted 173 Egrets, 42
Greats and 131 Snowys. 7 Elegant Terns were cruising
the pond, the farthest south in the bay I've seen this
    species.
On the way out, a juvenile Willet posed for a photo. I
thought. As I attempted a smooth and unalarming
dismount from my bike I spoke soothingly to the bird
"Will you pose for a picture?" The moment my foot
touched ground the bird emitted a "ha-ha-ha" (not a
made up laugh, but clearly that was the vocalization)
and took off. Willet 1, me 0.
    Good birding,
