Yesterday afternoon, Aug. 6, I saw two Common Murres swimming close to the beach at the foot of the Rosie the Riveter Memorial located in the Richmond Marina; so close to the concrete wall that a couple of kids tried to pick one of the birds up, until I intervened. The kids disappeared but the two murres were still there an hour later, swimming along by the wall and seeming to be interested in bugs on the concrete. I don't know enough about murres to know if this behavior is common or not; anyone who has any ideas please email me off line (thanks).
Also seen, Spotted Sandpiper on the floating pontoon in front of Salute Restaurant, and the Greater White Fronted Goose was seen again expoloring the boats moored near the Robert Gray where I had first seen it.
