    Greetings Birders:

Chris Carmichael, assoc. director of the UC Botanical Gardens emailed me a couple of hours ago that a frequent visitor and a birder/photographer saw a Gray Catbird in the rose garden section of the garden. The birder was able to get a reasonable photo showing the bird's dark cap and the rufous undertail coverts. The catbird was silent and kept mostly to the dense shrubbery. At 4:00 pm, I was unable to relocate the bird but I did see the photo and talk to Gary Walter who lives in San Rafael.

A nice compensation for not seeing the catbird is the chance to see the Hooded Orioles who are feeding two younguns (their third clutch) in the big agave spike in front of the offices.

Gary also saw two Wilson's Warbler near the creek and an immature (?) MacGillivray's Warbler. The Olive-sided Flycathers who have been in the Garden since June are still calling occasionally.
