    Hi all,

A bike ride out to Frank's Dump this a.m. was really
quiet. The fact that the tide was about 4 miles out
didn't help. Compared to Saturday's marsh activity,
today was one of those "where'd they all go?" days.

At the tideline, there were 50 or so Brown Pelicans
scattered standing in the open water a few feet
outward of the tideline. It looked like what you
would expect of great egrets when there's a feasting
opportunity, but they weren't particularly active.
It's as if their favorite breakwater had been declared
off-limits and this was the new hangout.

A lone Least Tern flew by south with food. And 7
Horned Larks spooked when I road my bike up on Radio
    Tower hill.

For those of you who have numbers to turn in for the
Alameda Co. Big year, now is the time. And please
    copy bob at wingbeats.org.
Thanks to Stephanie, Bruce, and Rich for their
    numbers.

    Good birding,
