    Hi all:

I had a PIGEON GuILLEMOT southwest of Berkeley Marina
this morning, roughly lined up with where the Bay
Bridge comes back down to ground level on the east
end. The Pelagic Cormorant parents at the Berkeley
Marina breakwater appeared to have 3 kids in the nest
and one on the deck; 1 full-grown, 2 just about
full-grown, and one significantly smaller than the
    rest.

    In Hayward, I had 49 Wilson's Phalaropes at Frank's
Dump, SHORT-BILLED Dowitchers scattered along the
shoreline and mudflats north to the water treatment
center. There was one basic plumage Bonaparte's Gull
    opposite the treatment plant.

I ran into Harold Fukuma, Amy MacDonald, and a birder
to be named later at the Hayward Ponds and we studied
shorebirds. A Dunlin, many basic plumage
    Black-bellied Plovers, 3 Semi-palmated Plovers, and 3
probable Least Sandpipers were seen along with a large
number of Marbled Godwits and Willets. At the LEAST
TERN colony there were 13 adults in various locations
all engaged in nesting and/or feeding behavior. I
could see no chicks at that distance. Evening light
and reduced heat shimmer would help. An additional 22
Wilson's Phalaropes were at the westernmost pond.

    Good birding,
