    Hi all:

I sampled some bayside habitats this morning. On the
north side of Cesar Chavez Park in Berkeley (spinnaker
way) there were three BARN OWLS in the owl box that
has the accumulation of owl pellets on the ground
below. None of the owls were downy, so I would guess
at one adult and two juveniles. But it could be three
juveniles and the adults are staying elsewhere. or,
    or, or.......

On the concrete breakwater at the harbor entrance the
Pelagic Cormorants are nesting on the north side. One
adult was on the nest and one was on the adjacent
piling, while I was there. A little later in the
morning I was just south of the Berkeley Pier and an
adult Pelagic Cormorant flew by and minutes later a
juvenile was swimming just to the west of His
    Lordships.

The only shorebirds seen all morning were an
Oystercatcher at Albany Crescent, two flyover
Oystercatchers at the Berkeley Pier, 17 Marbled
Godwits, a Long-billed Curlew and 3 Avocets at Middle
Harbor Park off of 7th Street in Oakland.

3 Least Terns were foraging at Middle Harbor Park.

    Good birding,
