The Great Horned Owlets are still there in the Claremont Canyon area. I visited the area on Friday May 2 and found 2 owlets and 2 adults. The day before people said there were 3 babies, but on my trip the runt had flown the coop. This morning I found all 3 babies on a nearby eucalyptus tree about 50 yards NW of the original nest. Two owlets huddled together on a branch with the runt about 10 feet away by itself on the same branch. One adult was visible and being mobbed by crows. I could hear crows wreaking havoc nearby, probably on the other adult, but could not see. Anyone visiting this area should look out for poison oak and ticks.
