[EBB Sightings] Hayward Shoreline (5/1)

Seen at the shoreline today -

Brown Pelican - 2 seen offshore. This is only the sixth I have seen in May and the only one before the 19th.

Cackling Goose - 1 seen on the Radio Tower Hills, it then flew to the bay with some CaGo.

Canvasback - 2. I have only seen them 7 other times in May.

Common Merganser - 1 in the bay near Hayward's Landing. This it the first I have seen in May.

Red Knot - 400-450 seen at Frank's Dump West during High Tide. Most were in breeding plumage, but some were not.

Least Tern - 1 seen flying over Frank's Dump West.

Black Tern - 1 seen flying in the city ponds. To reach the area where it was seen, go towards Cogswell Marsh from the Winton Ave. parking area. It was over the second pond east of Mt. Trashmore. This is the same pond that 1 was seen last fall.

Ash-throated Flycatcher - 1 seen on the east side of Ora Loma Marsh.

Black-headed Grosbeak - at Winton Ave.
