Our Chickadee family paid a visit to our Walnut Creek patio this morning,
according to my wife Rosita. She said that a total of 3 chicks came, as
well as both parents. While one parent was teaching some of the chicks how
to wash behind their ears in the bird bath, the other was busily making
trips from the seed feeder to the hungry chicks.

Rosita said the one with the lump behind its head was here. The lump is
noticably smaller. John Harris, of Oakland, thinks it might be a botfly
larva which has burrowed under the skin, where it will live before crawling
out and forming a pupa. This chick did take a drink out of one of the
    hummingbird feeder ant traps.
