Eugenia Larson and I made the trek out to the bay and north to Frank's Dump
late this afternoon to catch the high tide. We scrambled down the bank to
hide below the wind and sat with our tripods on broken concrete, pickleweed
and thistles. A three Tern day, a three Phalarope day. What a show.

Many of the shorebirds we saw were in breeding plumage.

Snowy Egret (1), Canada Goose, Mallard, Greater Scaup (flew in and landed
for a while), Black-bellied Plover (several), Semipalmated Plover,
Black-necked Stilt, American Avocet (one with 4 chicks along the south
shore), Willet, Marbled Godwit, Ruddy Turnstone (1), Red Knot (many),
Sanderling, Western and Least Sandpipers, Dunlin (many), Short-billed
    Dowitcher, Wilson's Phalarope (1), Red Phalarope (1), Red-necked Phalarope
(many), Ring-billed Gull, Least Tern (as many as 10), Forster's Tern,
Caspian Tern (up to 3), Barn Swallow, Horned Lark (on the walk out),
Brown-headed Cowbird (at the parking area).
