This morning at Lake Chabot, there were several
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers on the NW side of Honker Bay.
At least one was carrying what appeared to be nesting
    material in its beak.

Some of the other birds: Western Tanager,
Black-Headed Grosbeak, Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers,
Pacific Slope Flycatchers, Warbling Vireo, and Purple
    Finches in brilliant plumage.

To get to the area where the Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers
were found, start at the marina and take the East
Shore Trail. Just beyond mile 1.6, the trail turns to
dirt, and not too much further, take a left turn
across the bridge. Walk a little further and turn
left on Columbine Trail. The Gnatcatchers are found
along the trail about 100 feet past this last
    intersection.

    Good birding,

    Sue Stanton
