[EBB Sightings] Chickadee Club Overnight

We held our annual Chickadee Club overnight at Wildcat
View Campground in Tilden on Friday, May 16.

We identified a total of about 40 species (not
including the racoons who visited during the night)
with excellent views of a briefly cooperative Cassin's
vireo.  Swainson's thrushes and olive-sided
flycatchers were calling early Saturday morning as
well as a couple of great-horned owls.

32 4th and 5th graders from Malcolm X Elementary
School attended and not one was carried off by bears.

Many thanks to Alan Kaplan who sheparded us all on a
nature walk.  And many thanks also to Doris and Doug
Vaughn who led a team of enthusiastic children in the
second annual humongous birding competition.
