This evening (Thurs, April 17) about 5:20 pm, at San Pablo Bay
Regional Shoreline in Pinole, there was a group of about 12 RED KNOTS
hanging out among the rocks where the creek (using "creek" in the
most loose possible way - more like a drainage outlet) enters the
Bay. This is about 1/3 mile east of the parking lot, across from
where the paved trail is in a "valley" and swings away from the
shoreline. There is no easy access to the shoreline in this area,
which can be viewed from either further east or further west looking
    down from the bluff.

At least 3 of the knots were quite visibly red even from a
distance. A Black-bellied Plover and a Black Turnstone were
    available for size comparison.

(The parking lot is at the end of Pinole Shores Drive. The gate may
close as early as 4:00 pm.)

    Good birding,
