    I E.B.Birders,

While leading my Albany Adult School Birding By Ear
class along Mitchell Canyon Road this morning, we saw
a female Black-chinned Hummingbird. This bird was
mixing with other hummingbirds in the area just beyond
the White Canyon trail turn off, where the creek
almost meets the road. Another interesting sighting
was a likely Townsend's x Hermit Warbler. This bird
had the Townsend's Warbler's yellow and black facial
pattern, but the underparts were mostly dull white
below the well defined black chin/throat patch.

There were also many returning and migrant species,
most of which have already been reported, including
numerous Western Tanagers in various locations. After
    class, I heard a Swainson's Thrush calling a few
hundred feet uphill from the lower end of the trail to
    Eagle Peak.

    All the Best Birding,
    Denise Wight
