    Hi Birders,

Spring has officially sprung for me. As I sit at my computer, my fos HOODED
ORIOLE is singing and "wheeping" in a eucalyptus across the parking lot
where I work (Fairmont Hospital in San Leandro). This is a new species for the
    ABY cumulative list.

Yesterday, while I was looking for a Lesser Yellowlegs (LEYE) at Bockman
Channel at Hayward Shoreline (not seen), I saw one of the male Eurasian Wigeons
reported by Bob Richmond. (Bob also reported a LEYE at Haywards Landing --
once again I was in the wrong place at the wrong time!) But the most
unexpected bird of the day was a juvenile BALD EAGLE circling overhead. I eventually
lost sight of it as it climbed higher and drifted off to the south. All the
shorebirds turning their heads sideways to look up alerted me to the eagle,
or I probably would have missed it.

No luck finding the Black Scoter at San Leandro Marina on my lunch hour
    today.

    Good birding,
    Kathy Robertson
