    Hi all,

Sunday afternoon found me on Mission Blvd in Fremont,
so I went looking for Orioles. I think the nursery
and location Joe Devine indicated is a little north of
the Niles/Mission Blvd intersection. I pulled off on
Mayhew, on the east side of Mission, and two male
Hooded Orioles were moving between the palms on the
corner there, and palms further east on Mayhew. They
were nicely vocal and not too troublesome to track
    down.

Bruce Mast and I had no luck w/ Townsend's Solitaire
at Sunol Reg. Preserve, but did manage some House
Wrens and Warbling Vireos. I had a golden eagle
gliding over the preserve with a ground squirrel
dangling from its talons. We enjoyed a Bald Eagle on a
nest at Calaveras Res., in the wrong county.

If you have March totals for the Alameda Co. big year,
please pass them along. Bob Lewis is on sabbatical
through the 18th, so the web-site won't be updated
until the third week in the month or so. If you send
me your totals, I'll package them up and send them
back out to the participants. Thanks to Steve
Huckabone for getting the reporting started.

    Good birding,
