This morning I took a short drive to Martinez to Waterfront Road and also to
the Regional Shoreline. At the corner where the taco vending truck usually
parks, just downhill from the MacNabney Marsh parking lot, I found a female
Barrow's Goldeneye. She was in the little pond right adjacent to the dirt
pullout behind where the taco truck park. There were three female
Great-tailed Grackles, also, but no taco truck.

The expected birds at the Regional Shoreline were seen, including
Canvasbacks, Ring-billed, Western and California Gulls, avocets and stilts.
A Virginia Rail made a leap from one part of the marsh to a spot about 8
feet away. If she hadn't called when she did it, I would have missed her
    altogether.
