Sunday, Feb. 3, at 10:30, the bald eagle was sitting
halfway up a dead tree immediately south of the trail
on the south side of the reservoir, perhaps a minute
walk east of the southside water fountain.
Also, Friday at noon a yellow-rumped warbler was
flitting around the dam. I had only seen it in the
rushes well to the right of the dam previous years.
Finally, an oddity - an enormous flock of loudly
whistling starlings took over our backyard Valley Oak
yesterday for a half hour. As common as starlings may
be elsewhere, there has never been one on our property
in the 20 years we've lived here.
