Speaking of mimics...

Tonight at 5:15, about 2/10 mile up the Oak Tree trail
from the Foothill staging area at Pleasanton Ridge RP,
a CALIFORNIA THRASHER was perched out in the open on a
stalk in a grassy gully just down from a flowering
tree, singing with gusto a mad selection of tunes,
including "Western scrub jay".
