Thanks to everyone who made great suggestions for my Birding 101 high school
miniterm class at the Bentley School. So far it's going great, and although
it's a class of 18 mostly 14-15 year old complete novices, we're seeing
quite a bit, and at least one student really has stellar birder potential.

So far this week we have birded:

    - Lafayette Reservoir (pine siskins)
    - Briones Regional Park (Bear Creek staging area)
    - Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta with "Dolphin Charters" out of Antioch (I
HIGHLY recommend them, we saw an astounding number of species and
individuals, and both the captain and on-board naturalist were very
    knowledgeable and helpful)
    - Tilden Natural Area (Lake Jewel, no Green heron :( )
    - Lake Merritt (possible Broad-winged Hawk?)

This weekend we're going to Pt. Reyes and the Marin Headlands,
Then wrapping up next week at Mt. Diablo, and one place TBD, perhaps one of
the bay marsh sites (near the Oakland airport?).

I wish I had a month to teach this class, because so many of the places
you've recommended sound so excellent. If there were one more "Must See"
birding hotspot for that one open day, I'd be happy to hear it.

    Thanks again!
