At noonish today, the Lapland Longspur continued on the slope just north
of the channel near the end of Winton Avenue. As others have reported,
it was with larks (and not the more plentiful pipits). Also of interest
were 5 species of goose seen from one spot. When taking the trail north
along the shore from the Winton Avenue channel, there is a spur trail
going in-between two sections of landfill where many geese were
loafing. Most numerous were Cackling Geese, with some Canadas, 5 Ross's
and 1 Snow. Then 3 White-fronted flew overhead while I was observing
the geese. One of the Cackling geese has an identification neck band
with white lettering against blue which I think reads (at least) "J
16". The shorebirds on the mud flats included many Red Knots. I had no
    luck with the Tropical Kingbird.
