    The LAPLAND LONGSPUR was present this morning around
    11:30 on northeast end of the trail leading out along
    the flood control channel. It was foraging on the
    hillside with HORNED LARKS as others have noted.
    Another birder reported seeing the Tropical Kingbird
    briefly, but I was not so fortunate. Instead I
    contented myself with a dark female MERLIN as it
    scattered AMERICAN PIPITS on Mount Trashmore. There
    was also an adult THAYER'S GULL in the pond just south
    of the parking area while overhead there were several
    WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS.
