I saw 2 burrowing owls in Cesar Chavez park in Berkeley Marina on Saturday
1/26. One was near the northeast corner of the park (just east of the
turn) and the other was a few hundred yards along on northern side. In
both cases, they were perched on the top of the rip-rap, in clear view
from the asphalt path. I don't get to that park too often but I have
seen them there before and they are reported on this list occasionally.

I also saw a black shouldered kite in the Meadow at Berkeley Marina. I
have seen several others in recent weeks in the shoreline area along the
    bay trail of Albany/Richmond.

I also saw 2 loons, maybe common loons, in the Richmond Inner Harbor in
Marina Bay. I saw them Sunday 1/27 but I saw one there last week too, and
last winter about this time as well.

Miscellaneous: I often hear the Berkeley Conures overhead during
part of my commute (by bicycle). I usually notice them west of San Pablo
near Cedar or Rose at about 9th or 10th. I'm terrible at bird calls but
they are easy to find when they are chattering nearby.
