This morning I was headed for the Oakland Hills when I noticed large dark
rain clouds to the west. So I called an audible and went south on 680 to
Sunol RP. Took the hike towards Little Yosemite and enjoyed the perfect
hiking weather. Along the trail I stopped in appropriate habitat and pished
up a pair of Rufous-crowned Sparrows. I believe this is new bird for the
collective ABY list. Farther up the trail past the rushing falls area I had
a single Band-tailed Pigeon fly over. Other nice birds for the morning
included Red-breasted Sapsucker, Wrentit, Prairie Falcon and Golden Eagle. I
also noticed today Yellow-rumped Warblers, Huttons' Vireos and Dark-eyed
Juncos singing loudly, a sign spring is just around the corner.
    Good birding.
