I stopped at Coyote Hills on the way to work at 9 a.m. Wednesday. A
Merlin perched cooperatively by the quarry parking lot for 15 minutes
    while it devoured a Yellowlegs.

This Merlin is one of the Taiga population, with more of a moustache,
white throat and lighter breast and undertail coverts than our Pacific
    population.

The resident Loggerhead Shrike was also moving around among the few
trees on the east side of the parking lot.

There's also one new shot of the Yellow Rail from Arrowhead Marsh
    Monday morning.
