    Hi E. B. Birders,

I headed out to Black Diamond Mines Regional Park this
morning in search of Rock and Canyon Wren. The entire
park was clear and sunny at 8:30 am. I spent an hour
sitting and walking around the area below the rocky
cliffs on the east side of the Chaparral Loop Trail,
and eventually heard the Canyon Wren's buzzy call
notes behind me. I watched it forage around a rock
    overhang, then it flew off.

After that, I went back to the visitor center parking
lot to search for Rock Wren. They can often be found
hopping about the parked cars, (even perching on the
tops of tires), but the valley fog had come in, and
covered the entire lower area, keeping visiblity down
to about 50 feet. No luck even picking up a Rock Wren
    vocalization.

Also present were Lark Sparrows and White-throated
Swifts, Western Bluebirds and large flocks of Lesser
Goldfinch. As a tip to the visiting birder who is
looking for Red-breasted Sapsuckers, just check out
the Pepper trees in this park. Each tree I inspected
seemed to have at least one R.B. Sapsucker tapping out
    fresh sap holes!

    All the Best Birding,
