    Hi there,
My girlfriend and I were driving up from Fresno this
afternoon (her daughter plays hockey for the Lady
    Sharks).
At around 2 pm we were north of Chowchilla near the
CHP truck weighing station To our right (east) we
noticed a fair number of hawks perched on trees and
    poles.
Robust fellows with very light tan dusky colored
breasts that tapered to a darker tan color at the
    edges. I'm thinking they're red-shouldered hawks but
lack of binocs and the 70 mph drive by was not
    conducive to positive ID.
Anyone familiar with that area? These guys were
pretty hefty looking. One such bird was in a tree at
the HWY 120 turn off around 2:30 or so, surrounded by
a lot of small, dark, perching birds (starlings?)

BTW the Lady Sharks beat the Fresno Falcons' Bantam B
    team 4-1
