    EBB'ers,

The Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN)* needs the following items to
assist in oiled bird rescue and cleanup. The group's needs change often.

As of 6 pm Wednesday night, the Berkeley-based branch of the team
    still needs the following items:

    (1) Pedialite formula
    (2) small pillowcases - they use two per bird!
    (3) non-latex, aka "Nitrile" gloves for better handling of oiled
    wildlife
    (4) bottled water (small) for thirsty volunteers
    (5) small flashlights - for picking up oiled birds at night,
apparently easier to do than during the day

These items can be dropped off at the OWCN's drop-off location in the
parking lot just west of the entrance to Hana Japanese Restaurant
inside the Berkeley Marina on University Avenue. The parking lot is
on the right side of the street as you drive towards the Berkeley Pier.

Also, the City of Berkeley and its partners are conducting HAZMAT
trainings at the Shorebird Park Nature Center down at the Berkeley
Marina. You - yes, you! - can sign up to volunteer as an oiled bird
spotter, transporter or oil cleanup assistant. Sign up at the Nature
Center and they'll outfit you with a nifty orange vest, flags and
    HAZMAT suits.

*The OWCN is a joint rescue effort consisting of local city
governments, universities, wildlife and conservation organizations,
and the CA Dept. of Fish and Game. See: http://www.ibrrc.org/
    owcn_ibrrc.html for more information.

Thanks again for your support and indulgence as we continue our
    seabird rescue efforts.
