Nothing all too special from Heather Farm these days. We have settled into
fall/winter. The Yellow-rumped Warblers and White- and Golden-crowned
Sparrows are busy. Ring-necked Ducks and Buffleheads have been joined by a
contingent of Coots. The Double-crested Cormorants and gulls have returned
after their summer hiatus. The gulls included 4 California Gulls yesterday.
One gull seen from a distance seemed to be a Mew Gull and was missing the
lower part of its left leg. The numbers of Canada Geese varies, up to 300
in the late afternoons. Today 5 Wilson's Snipe were in the ditch at the
northeast corner of the park near the footbridge. 25 Killdeer joined the
geese on the southernmost ballfield near Ygnacio Valley Road. Fred Safier
had a White-throated Sparrow at the equestrian center Saturday and a Lark
and a Lincoln's Sparrow nearby. The other day I had Western Bluebirds in
this same area. It is possible to see 5 species of herons/egrets in the
    park.
