Near the Winton Avenue entrance to Hayward Shoreline park,
we saw 6 white geese flying along the shore a little before
sunset. We watched in binoculars as they circled back and
around, eventually landing among CANADA GEESE immediately
south of the trail leading from the parking lot to the bay.

Putting the scope on them as they fed, we studied the bill,
found it large and sloping down from the forehead, so we
concluded SNOW GOOSE. Ten minutes later, the small flock
took to the air and flew south.

Other birds included PEREGRINE FALCON, GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GOOSE, and the usual assortment of shorebirds.
