I arrived at the Berkeley Pier at about 6:20 this evening. About halfway out the pier I observed an immature Jaeger harrassing a tern and watched as it flew north out of sight. I continued walking down the pier. About ten minutes later 3 immature jaegers appeared from the south, chased several terns directly over me and proceeded to brawl about thirty feet from where I was standing. I'm pretty sure they were all parasitic, although I'm new to attempting to ID jaegers. After walking to the end of the pier and heading back, I observed another jaeger to the south which was obviously an adult, with a noticeable black cap and dark breast band. Again, I'm pretty sure it was a parasitic. Is it unusual for this many jaegers to be seen from the East Bay? I'm new to the area, but I had been under the impression that I probably wouldn't see any on the bay at all. All in all, a pretty rockin' evening! -Julia Putman
