A gloriously sunny afternoon on the bay at Berkeley
fishing pier, but, despite walking all the way out to
the end, where I did find more than one species of
tern, I didn't find the parasitic jaeger (although,
never having seen one, I might not have recognized
it). Best views were of three COMMON LOONS, one of
which was obliging enough to remain (mostly) in
breeding plumage and stay very close to the pier. A
Clark's grebe (orange bill) gave us close-up views as
well. On the way out, next to the entrance road
heading east towards the freeway, a group of BLACK
TURNSTONES was busy in the rocks, unperturbed by
    passersby.

I took a couple of (rather blurry but fun) photos.
