Today I saw 1, possibly 2 male HARLEQUIN DUCKS off of Brooks Island in
Richmond. I drove to the end of Marina Bay Blvd. and scoped from there.
The first bird was swimming with the Surf Scoters, later I saw another,
maybe the same, bird loafing under the old pier on Brooks Island. Also
loafing under the old pier on Brooks Island was a female, basic plumage
    LONG-TAILED DUCK.
The BRANT was still at Miller Knox Regional Park. It was near, but not
really associating with, the Canada Goose flock at the lagoon. I also
found a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH in the pines at the entrance to the north
    parking lot.
A fun thing was three logs standing together in the Richmond Marina.
Each one had a different species of cormorant sitting on top. It was
great to compare and contrast all three in the same scope view.
