    Hi all,
This afternoon at Hayward Regional Shoreline, Mark
    Smith and I found a Buff-breasted Sandpiper.
To get there park at the end of West Winton Ave. in
Hayward. Take the trail on the north side of the
channel to the bay and turn right. About a mile ahead,
just before the sewage treatment plant buildings, is a
fenced in pond on the right. The bird was in this pond
and, except for a handful of peeps and a couple of
    Killdeer, was completely alone.
I think this may be the third record for Alameda
County, though I may have missed one. The last ones I
know of were 25 August, 1990 when Bob Richmond and I
    found 3 at Hayward R.S.
    Good luck,
    Steve Glover
