    Hi all:

I stopped in at the model aircraft flight site just
south of Grimmer on Warm Springs in Fremont this
afternoon. I was looking for the Burrowing Owl from
the San Jose CBC (this is the outer edge) and
wondering if there was a family.

Two juveniles and one adult were seen. 4:30 is not
primetime viewing. There may be a larger family group
there that would be out and about late evening or
early a.m. This is an important site to keep track of
as it's owned by BART and the habitat could disappear
when BART connects to San Jose.

If anyone has seen additional owls at this site, it
would be good to keep good records and watch for any
indication that development is coming. I was asked to
look at a site in Sunnyvale that was a known Burrowing
Owl location. I arrived and there was a 10-story
structure on the site. We were about 2 years too late.

    Good birding,
