Late yesterday afternoon, Sunday, July 22, from the Richmond Bay Trail just south of Meeker Slough near Marina Bay, Inger Coble and I saw three Black Skimmers. One of the skimmers was flying back and forth in the vicinity of the broken down pier and then down Meeker Slough itself; the other two were wandering around on a small beach at the end of the pier. Two of the skimmers were also present Saturday, late afternoon, at high tide resting on a sand bar in same vicinity as Sunday.

Also seen both days were what appeared to be two juvenile gulls harrassing a parent (Western Gull?) for food. They too were at the far end of the pier. The two juvenile birds alternated between sitting on top of a barrel and floating in the water when not running after parent.

Other birds included Caspian and Forsters Tern, oystercathers, many Willet, several Brown Pelican, and at least 10 Kildeers in the restored marshes south of Rchmond Field Station.
