Today I went to Frank's Dump West at 1:30 PM, 1 1/2 hours before high tide. The tide was high enough to force over most of the shorebirds from Ora Loma Marsh. Nothing unusual was seen, but 1 SURFBIRD, 2 SANDERLINGS, and 200-300 RED KNOTS were present. An OSPREY flew in for a short stay, then it left. The shorebirds were all sent into flight by an immature PEREGRINE FALCON that caught a small shorebird, probably a WESTERN SANDPIPER.I then went to the Interpretive Center where 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS were with 14 GREATER YELLOWLEGS. I only have 5 earlier July records for LESSER YELLOWLEGS. A PRAIRIE FALCON was nearby, probably the same one that Shiela saw 1-2 weeks ago.

    Good Birding
