Unable to join Mt. Diablo Audubon in Briones Regional Park today, I did my
usual early morning walk through Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek. Along
the west side of the large natural pond I heard and then saw at least one
male Great-tailed Grackle. As I continued to the riparian area near the
south end of the equestrian ring, I saw three male and one female
Great-tailed Grackles at the top of a large dead tree. They were very
noisy. A passing walker asked about them and another morning regular heard
them, but they flew before she could arrive to see them.

I did not see the Common Moorhens this morning, but yesterday I saw both
adults and four chicks. They continue to be in the far northeast corner of
    the large pond.
