MDAS had a field trip to Mitchell Canyon in Mt. Disblo yesterday. We
were greeted at the staging area by a small flock of gobbling turkeys
and singing House Wrens. There were large numbers of singing Lazuli
    Buntings, Orange-crowned Warblers, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Cassin's
Vireos, and Wilson's Warblers. Olive-sided Flycatchers, Western
Wood-peewees and Pacific-slope Flycatchers were seen or heard.

A big highlight was male Hermit Warbler well seen by most in the
    group.

There was a pair of probable nesting Cooper's Hawks and a nesting
    Lesser Goldfinch.

The wildflowers were on their last legs, although there were still a
few Mariposa Lilies on the Globe Lily trail just off White Canyon.

    Good Birding,

    Maury Stern
