[EBB Sightings] Lake Merritt

In Lake Merritt in Oakland this morning there was a pale basic-plumaged
Common Loon, probably molting out of juvenile plumage.  I tried hard to
make it into a Yellow-billed Loon, but was not successful.  It was on the
Lakeshore Ave side of the lake, east of the fountain.  First loon I've seen
at Lake Merritt.

Yesterday's storm seems to have cleared out the remaining migratory
waterfowl.  As of Tuesday, there were at least 100 lingering Greater Scaup
and a few Ruddy Ducks; this morning, zero.  Even most of the Canada Geese
seem to have left, leaving the Mallards to hold down the fort until fall.
