[EBB Sightings] Tufted Duck continues, grebes, Lake Merritt

The male Tufted Duck was by the Nature Center this evening, joining 
scores of scaup in dining on the special of the day, cornflakes.

Re the grebes molting into breeding plumage, it seems to me they are 
much later this year than last.  I took these photos last year on March 
6 (all but the last two):

Most of the grebes were in or near full breeding plumage by that point, 
but maybe they were extraordinarily early, and this year is more typical.
