This morning between 8:30 and 11:30 I walked up Pine Canyon to the picnic
area and back. As I walked up the main trail/road around the old dam, a
Rufous-crowned Sparrow popped up onto the fence right near the sign for
nature trail #4. This is just past the big gate. A second pair was just a
bit beyond the dam, at the place where the wind has carved holes in the rock
    face adjacent to the trail

Up around the bend a bit, where the Shell Ridge Loop joins, I heard and saw
a singing Orange-crowned Warbler. Another Orange-crowned Warbler was seen
just before the first creek ford.

The sounds of the Oak Titmouse were just about everywhere. Many Nuttall's
Woodpeckers, many White-throated Swifts at the Castle Rocks, along with
    swallows.

Some Shooting Stars and Milkmaids were also blooming.
All in all, a very pleasant morning walk.
